Things to do within the state park

HI-Tyler Hostel is located within 1700 acre state park, so there's lots to right outside our door. There are many animals that are our neighbors, including deer, foxes, owls, pheasants, turkeys, hawks, and various birds, to name a few. We have park maps available which show all the bicycle, and equestrian trails. Within one block walk from the Hostel is historic Schofeild Ford Bridge, a covered bridge over Neshaminy Creek that flows through Tyler Park.

Play Areas and Sports Fields:
The hostel has mown yards, a volleyball net, and ample room for our visitors to play several games at once. The Park has constructed several children’s play areas adjacent to the ball fields, as well as a Frisbee golf course.

Park Naturalist:
There is a park naturalist available for nine months out of the year. You may call the park office at 215\968\2021 from 9:00 AM- 4:00 p.m. to check on her availability for a presentation during your stay at the hostel.

Walking:
There are many foot, bike and horse trails you can use all season, to cover the entire park.

Bicycle riding:
There are 12 miles of bike trails that make for safe biking, since cars are not allowed to use them.

Horse back riding: There is a stable outside the park. You may rent horses for $20 per hour Sunset Stables 215-860-1791. You ride at your own risk without a guide so we suggest this for experienced riders. If you are with a group we suggest you ride in the ring as the trails rides are unsupervised and you are responsible for your own group.

Canoe Rentals: Canoes are rented from Memorial Day through Labor Day at a concession 1 mile away from the Hostel. The current price is $7.50 per hour.

Skiing and sleigh riding are possible weather permitting. Call ahead to see if we have snow . We do have a long sleigh riding hill right in front of the hostel. Craft Fair is held twice a year in the park usually in October and May

Langhorne Players: Phone: 215-860-0818 at Spring Garden Mill Playhouse in Tyler Park two miles from the Hostel.

Doggie Run Around: Klondike is always ready for a game of Doggie keep away. This is his most favorite activity in the park. He is able to dodge 25 girl scouts at time.
